Figuring out what class to take
Designed objects
Pro:
- field I want to explore
- Learn a lot of skills very quickly
- Hands on and sustainable
- Current field (skills are useful for getting jobs)
- Friendly people in class, department is impressive
- Can make new friends
- Works with sound class possibly? (actually nope)
Cons:
- Gives me 2 9-9 class days
- Requires a lot of outside time
- My schedule is already really intense
- This is my last semester taking 16 credits, why push it?
- Unknown department
- Woodshop freaks me out (like A LOT)
- Doesn’t work with any of my other classes
- Can’t devote full effort to it (I can take it next semester)
Artist books
Pros:
- last class I can take with my roomie
- Department I already know
- Can do work in apartment instead of in studio
- Safer (mentally)
- frees up my schedule
- Learn new skill
- Works with all my other classes except sound (actually might work with sound as a time based medium)
- Gets rid of 2 night classes
- If I can’t get in to it I have DesOb as a backup still
Cons:
- How important of a skill are we talking?
- Have to start fighting to get in now
- Bullshit with academic advising
- Means I have class thursday morning
